The deputy mayor for tourism of Chios, Giorgos Christakis, promotes sustainable tourism with new initiatives, international actions and strengthening domestic tourism.

Mr. Christakis discusses the new municipal authority’s strategies for promoting tourism on the island, emphasizing the importance of continuing the successful initiatives of his predecessor and introducing new, modern ideas. It seeks to extend the tourist season, boost domestic tourism and promote Chios internationally with targeted actions, such as the recent launch in Italy.

In addition, it refers to the importance of the bicycle as a means of transport and a tool for promoting sustainable tourism. It highlights efforts to raise local awareness for better knowledge and promotion of the island and mentions the success of international events such as the volleyball tournament with Turkey. Mr. Christakis expresses his optimism for a dynamic tourist season full of new actions and initiatives.
